چکیده

Abstract Aims The vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous (VRAM) flap is commonly used to reconstruct perineal defects for low rectal and anal cancer. incidence of midline incisional hernias after VRAM reconstruction varies from 3.6% when detected clinically up 50% radiologically. aims this study accurately determine the radiological donor-site parastomal hernia following reconstruction. Methods Retrospective cohort patients undergoing colorectal surgery requiring over 10 years. Data were collected on patient demographics, indication surgical procedure including details any repair. Images surveillance CTs reviewed presence size and/or hernias. Parastomal classified based European Hernia Society (EHS) classification. Results 173 included in analysis. median age was 67 years (range 29 – 88 years) length follow 49 months (IQR 24.3 71.0 months). overall 27.6%. at 1, 2 5 16.8%, 25.2% 18.5%. 37.9%, 44.1% 29.8% (48.6% overall). Conclusions majority who develop herniation tend do so within first two Although use CT imaging improves diagnosis hernias, clinical significance unknown.

Risk Factors for Incisional Hernia and Parastomal Hernia after Colorectal Surgery

Morbid obesity is another important risk factor for the development of an incisional hernia and a parastomal hernia [9, 10]. Schreinemacher et al. [9] reported that hernias were more prevalent in patients with morbid obesity (body mass index of 30 and higher) and in patients with a temporary stoma wound (25.8% vs. 59.1%). De Raet et al. [10] reported that a waist circumference in excess of 100 ...

Donor-Site Complications and Remnant of Rectus Abdominis Muscle Status after Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous Flap Reconstruction

BACKGROUND Transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flap reconstruction after mastectomy in breast cancer patients has become one of the milestones in breast reconstruction. There are several techniques that have been used in an attempt to minimize untoward complications. We present the whole muscle with partial sheath-sparing technique that focuses on the anatomy of arcuate line and the...

[Perineal hernia following abdominoperineal amputation and myocutaneous flap].

Perineal hernia after infralevator posterior pelvic exenteration due to adenocarcinoma of the lower rectum with genital invasion: a rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap was used to repair the defect and reconstruct the vagina. The donor abdominal fascia area was reinforced with bio-absorbable mesh (BioA-Gore). On CT, ileal loops were observed with elongated mesentery in the pelvis and perineum, a...

Incidence of Port-Site Incisional Hernia After Single-Incision Laparoscopic Surgery

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is gaining popularity among minimally invasive surgeons and is now being applied to a broad number of surgical procedures. Although this technique uses only 1 port, the diameter of the incision is larger than in standard laparoscopic surgery. The long-term incidence of port-site hernias after single-incision laparoscopic surgery has...
